"Jobs before Singing"
~ A Young Elvis Presley ~
Elvis first earned about $8.00 a
week
mowing lawns. Then while in high
school he made $14.00 a week as a
movie house usher…also worked in a
furniture factory. After high school
he drove an electrical supply truck
for $40.00 a week. Later Elvis
worked a full eight-hour shift at a
tool company making artillery
shells.
At the age of 19 years old
Elvis signed a recording contract
with Sun Record Company of
Memphis, Tennessee in 1954.
In 1955 he started recording
exclusively for RCA-Victor
under the negotiations of
Col. Tom Parker, better
known as the "Colonel"...
In 1956 Colonel Parker
became the manager of
Elvis…and the rest is history!
Elvis made his first movie
"Love Me Tender"
that same year.
